The problem

The Shopify customer export isn't shaped for a mail merge: there is no Full Name field, regions are codes, the column names don't match UK or Australian address conventions, and the file is full of emails, phone numbers and marketing columns.

How it works

  1. Export your customers as CSV from Shopify Admin.
  2. Drop the Customers CSV into Shopify Customers MailMerge.
  3. Pick the US, UK, CA, AU or Generic address pack.
  4. Choose Drop incomplete, Strip email & phone and the country filter.
  5. Download the clean CSV (and the dropped-rows report) for your mail merge or label tool.

What you get

Limits: what it doesn't do

  • Not for re-importing into Shopify
  • Orders CSVs are refused; use Shopify CSV Densifier for those
  • Designed for typical exports; around 10k rows is fine

FAQ

Can I re-import the clean CSV into Shopify?

No. The columns are shaped for mail merge and labels, not the Shopify Customers import template.

I dropped an Orders export. What happened?

Orders CSVs (with Lineitem headers) are refused. Use Shopify CSV Densifier for orders; this tool is for Customers exports only.

How does dedupe work?

It hashes normalized name, company, address lines, city, province, ZIP and country. The first row wins, and later matches are dropped and counted.

What counts as incomplete?

A row missing Address1, City or ZIP after trimming, or missing all of First Name, Last Name and Company. Turn off Drop incomplete to keep those rows.

Why is County / Province blank for UK rows?

Shopify often stores UK addresses with city and postcode only. County is optional in the UK pack, so blank is allowed.

Is it a subscription?
